<p>Differences in structure of contour feathers as estimated from the first principal component of six feather variables (see <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0024942#pone-0024942-t001" target="_blank">Table 1</a>) from the sternal tract of wild (black bars), and foster (white bars) great tits originating from Lund and Oulu, with the corresponding error bars. Foster parents from Oulu (white bars) spent the same time as foster juveniles inside the aviaries.
